Downtown School Civil War Play Shows Large Effort

Downtown Civil War PlayDowntown School’s nine, ten and eleven-year-olds researched the Civil War and put on a play for their classmates complete with music, costumes, multiple sets and lots of historical facts.

The musical was written, directed and designed by the children in Amanda Clark and Molly Sweeney’s Learning Group. It’s called, “Songs and Voices of the Civil War.”  The performance is a culminating event after months of study.

The songs, some accompanied by piano, clarinet, violin and drums, were familiar songs from the era.  The children performed the musical again for the public in the Central Campus Auditorium.
