Downtown School teachers and staff were recently featured in the districtwide employee health newsletter. The article commended their creative effort to keep everyone engaged in personal health and well-being. Mrs. V (Deb Van Waardhuizen), the Downtown School’s Wellness Champion, focused the activities on learning about sugar, and included a Price is Right style game of ranking sugar content in various foods! Nice work!

Love the Grinch? Buy the book, or any others at Barnes and Noble on Saturday, Dec. 2 and the DTS library gets a portion of the proceeds! Just say “The Downtown School” at checkout. Plus, there will be a special reading by Mr. Burnett at 10 a.m., and the DTS band and orchestra students will perform at 1:30 p.m. See you there!

Downtown students wore special shades, make pin hole cameras and watched NASA’s live stream as a new-in-their-lifetime event unfolded in front of them. Thank you to all of the parents and staff who donated glasses and treats, the teachers who incorporated this amazing event into their lesson plan and saw to the safety of our students, and to our amazing students for their enthusiasm, soaking up the celestial wonder of #Eclipse2017.
