Toys for Tots Donations Distributed

The students at the Downtown School partnered with the American Heart Association for a Hoops for Heart campaign in February.  As a school, we raised over $16,000 for the local chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA).  This amount was the highest in the state.  Our contributions saved over 340 lives right here in Iowa.  As a way to show appreciation for our efforts, the AHA offers students “thank you” gifts.  Our school has always elected to donate all of our “thank you” gifts to Toys for Tots.  In addition to balls and mini flyers, we were able to donate 9 full size scooters.  DMPS custodial staff members helped the Marines load up our donations immediately following our event.  These donations will be distributed this holiday season.  Way to go DTS families!
