Kindness Rules on Better World Day at Downtown School

The photos and narrative were contributed by the Jones/Schauls Kindergarten and first-grade classrooms, and Herrin/Daniels 3rd and 4th grade classrooms.

For Better World Day, we wrote kindness letters to our support staff in the building, we made a appreciation banner for our lunch heroes to celebrate them on lunch hero day, we kicked off the making our classroom more aesthetically inviting to go along with our EL Tree Module by inviting to parent volunteers. One parent volunteer kicked off our project by getting us excited by reading a tree book. Another parent volunteer stayed to help us create the Shrinky Dink handprint leaves that will be a part of our tree we are building in our classroom.

In the Herrin/Daniels classroom, 3rd and 4th grade students became scientists writing hypothesis about the effect of water pollution and then testing them out.
