New School Hours Beginning in August

Beginning in August, all schools at DMPS will have new hours. The new hours at our school will be 7:30 AM to 2:25 PM. Day Off for Students, Day On for Teachers

While students enjoyed a three-day weekend, teachers and staff at The Downtown School gathered for district wide professional development on Monday, learning how to better serve the students in their classrooms. Professional development is offered throughout the year, giving teachers and staff time to collaborate.

The ‘Price is Right’ for DTS Teachers & Staff

Downtown School teachers and staff were recently featured in the districtwide employee health newsletter. The article commended their creative effort to keep everyone engaged in personal health and well-being. Mrs. V (Deb Van Waardhuizen), the Downtown School’s Wellness Champion, focused the activities on learning about sugar, and included a Price is Right style game of ranking sugar content in various foods! Nice work!

The Future’s So Bright at Downtown School

Downtown students wore special shades, make pin hole cameras and watched NASA’s live stream as a new-in-their-lifetime event unfolded in front of them. Thank you to all of the parents and staff who donated glasses and treats, the teachers who incorporated this amazing event into their lesson plan and saw to the safety of our students, and to our amazing students for their enthusiasm, soaking up the celestial wonder of #Eclipse2017.
